I’m still all abuzz from my Italy trip. Getting back on a sane sleep schedule has been tough. Have to finish sorting and editing the 400+ photos I took. I had such a wonderful experience that I don’t even know how to begin talking about it.

Went to Rome last Thanksgiving. 12/10 would Italy again.

That’s a very interesting looking group of buildings in the first photo.

We hit up 5 cities in 8 days. Venice, Florence, Riomaggiore, Siena, and Modena.

That’s Riomaggiore. The city’s basically carved into a cliff face. Cars are not allowed into town because only one street is wide enough.

That top photo blows my mind. Beautiful.

Bit of a rush. Siena I think you can take in a day, and even Venice could be pulled off, but Florence is much too big.
All the more reason to go back then.

Definitely needed more time in Florence. Climbed the dome and spent time at the market but didn't get to see Ponte Vecchio or David.

May I suggest you begin by telling me how many classic FIATs you saw and, more importantly, how many you managed to smuggle back for me? :O

I saw an absolute shitload of classic Pandas, and 90% of them were this color:

I didn’t get a chance to climb the dome unfortunately. Lines were too long, and while it seemed like there was a thing to cut the lines by spending money, I didn’t have time to figure that out.
I did get up over to the other side of the river for a nice view overlooking the city:
Really though, I could have spent an entire day just at the Uffizi, spectacular collection, I felt significantly rushed with just four hours there.

They do LOVE their Pandas down there....other than rust, you can’t kill them!

Dome’s worth it. Due to city ordinances it’s the tallest structure for miles and you get a panoramic view of the whole valley.

There was a surprisingly small showing of Japanese cars. Mostly Toyota Aygos and Nissan Micras. Only saw two Hondas and one Subaru the entire time. Lancia on the other hand had a significant market share for a brand that's supposed to be dead.

They were selling about 60,000 Ypsilons a year (I think it's been declining as the ypsilon is getting older) which isn’t nothing considering they’re only sold in Italy.

It was about 50/50 Ypsil ons and Musas, which together made up almost 1 in 4 0 cars I saw.

I was in Italy 13 years ago and spent a few days in Florence. I saw the Ponte Vecchio and David, but I think I’d almost trade that for Riomaggiore after seeing your photos. Such a crazy looking place!

There’s a string of 5 cities just like that all along the coast. The group is called Cinque Terre.
